Take Home Genetics Test Confirms Who’s Your Daddy

By admin

When I was in my early to late twenties (I’m now 42), some of my male friends used to kid about the fact that they may have some sons or daughters somewhere around the country. As you mature, you realize it’s not something to joke about and as you reach the middle of your expected life, you want to know. Now, there’s a simple take-home DNA test which can begin to answer some of life’s most pressing questions. Critics say that taking a swab of saliva off of your daddy’s beer bottle does nothing to insure that the results will not be compromised.

Sorenson Genetics of Salt Lake City markets a take home DNA Paternity test which is answering some age old questions for families throughout North America. Marketed as IDENTIGENE (TM), the test is priced at $29.99. The test is now available in 4300 Rite Aid (TM) stores in 31 states throughout the United States including the District of Columbia. The product can also be found in Meijer (TM) stores in 5 states.

Some critics allege that families could ultimately make life altering decisions based on poorly interpreted results.

Here’s what I believe. First, DNA testing belongs in a competent lab where trained professionals are reading the results. Unlike take-home paternity tests which the results will either be confirmed by nature or a trained medical professional, who confirms the results of a take- home paternity test? These types of tests should not be available for take home testing. As a society, we have trivialized the question, “Who’s Your Daddy”. In fact, it’s become a regular chant in some ballparks thoughout America. Who’s Your Daddy belongs in ballparks. Who’s Your Daddy tests don’t belong in drug stores.
